*Scraps his blood pressure pills

**All in one Body Transformation**
Before |
After |
Jimmy Parks suffered a serious back injury causing him to under go 2 surgeries. In the year following the accident his weight ballooned up to 222 lbs and he began taking medicine for high blood pressure.
In April Jimmy came to me for help and we discussed what needed to be done to get his life back on track. I decided the first step was to get him in Physical therapy until he was ready to hit the gym. I have always preached the importance of personal trainers and physical therapist working together to give clients the best chance of full recovery. When done correctly this can be an invaluable service. The way I see it you go to a doctor to diagnose the injury, you see the Physical therapists to rehabilitate the injury and you hire a trainer to make sure the injury never happens again. This is exactly what I planned for Jimmy.
I sent Jimmy to work with John Knarr of Elite PT. - my go to man for injury rehab- John worked with him until he was healthy enough to start his body transformation. 3 Weeks later Jimmy was given the green light to go back to the gym.
I started him on a low impact weight training program and slowly worked him up to a more advanced routine. The results were incredible. He went from 2 minutes on the elliptical machine 2 times a week to 6-7 sessions of 45 minutes.
He lost 62 pounds, lowered his cholesterol and no longer needs blood pressure pills.
The thing to remember about this body transformation is that Jimmy could hardly move before he started working out with me. He had trouble doing the everyday things that you and I take for granted. I’m very proud of Jimmy. He changed his body, his health and his life all in one shot. He’s a great inspiration for anyone out there trying to get in shape for the New Year.
Will weight lifting make women bulky?
|
![]() |
Ashley Farrell trained with weights to prepare for the 2008 Miss Delaware Contest. Does she look fat to you?
Do to the overwhelming amount of questions I’ve received lately about weights making women bulky I’ve decided to answer this question in this months newsletter.
Let’s get something straight right now. Weightlifting will not make women bulky. Anyone that tells you that never seriously lifted weights before.
I’ve been fighting the battle of misinformation for years on this subject. People fail to realize that bulk is nothing more than muscle with fat on top of it. The idea is to gain muscle and strip off the layers of fat that surround it. If you lift weights, do cardio and practice a sensible diet you’ve got a winning combination. If you lift weights and continue to eat like a sumo wrestler, then you will probably get bulky.
Remember, the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. That’s why weightlifting should be the primary part of any successful weight loss program.

5 Pounds of fat takes up a lot more space than 5 pounds of muscle. Which one would you rather have stuck to your thighs?
Kelli Gonzalez
On November 19th Kelli Gonzalez competed in the 2007 International Surf Rescue Challenge. The contest was held in Bondi Beach, Australia and included some of the world’s best beach flag sprinters. Kelli placed 6th out of 12 runners and was chosen to represent the United States in the Australian Interstate competition. This was Kelli’s first International Competition. Look for her to do great things in the future.
